I’m old.
I remember when I first saw a gigabyte drive. I freaked out. “The future is freakin’ here!”, I said.
Today at Best Buy I saw this external terabyte drive. I guess the future is still here.
To be fair, this is a case with two 500 gigabyte drives in it, but still. My first hard drive was an external 30 megabyte SCSI drive for my Mac Plus. It cost me $450 dollars (I was netting about $100 a week at the time!). This drive has more than 33,333 times the capacity. It’s likely 100 times faster. And it’s cheaper by quite a bit when inflation is factored in. Not bad for 17 years of progress.
